Freckles.. Why do they appear? Check these 5 ways to get rid of them!

What are Freckles?

Freckles are little brown spots on the skin that are caused by the sun. We all have pigment-producing cells in our skin called melanocytes. These melanocytes produce melanin pigment and feed it to keratinocytes, the normal skin cells that form the outer barrier of our skin. This barrier protects us from the insults of nature, and importantly, from the sun. This pigment prevents us from being damaged by the sun’s powerful rays. When our melanocytes become damaged by the sun, we produce freckles, which are simply abnormal collections of melanin pigment in the skin.

How can you make them disappear?

1.Using Topical Antioxidants

Researchers from the University of Milan provided clinical evidence of a photo-protective effect of topical antioxidants vitamin E and A.

The Journal of Europe’s Academy of Dermatology and Venereology published their work the September 2011 issue showing topical antioxidants can provide a photo-protective effect for treatment of age spots.

  1. Using turmeric
This Indian spice used in cooking is believed to reduce hyper pigmentation since years. So, use a cream that comprises of this spice as an important ingredient. Apply it twice daily for better results.
  2. Using vitamin B3
This supervitamin has been known to rejuvenate the turnover of skin cells, which further keeps a check on the pigmentation process. Creams and serums that contain Vitamin B3 are thereby a good pick.
  3. Using vitamin C

In 2012, the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology published evidence how topical Vitamin C can treat age spots occuring from sun overexposure. You cаn apply vitamin C tо freckles and dark spots. Thіѕ reduces thе freckle pigment аnd mаkеs thеm lеss noticeable. Vitamin C, such as L-Ascorbic Acid, can be found in a variety of serums, lotions and creams. When applied topically, vitamin C can brighten your overall skin tone and lighten age spots.

  1. Using Pine Bark

Creams that remove freckles and age spots should contain an active ingredient that can penetrate the skin. One such ingredient is Pine bark. Pine bark is great in part because it increases a compound in the skin called hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid plumps skins and guards against oxidative damage and wrinkles.  After about age 30, our natural hyaluronic acid levels begin to decline.  In a 2012 study, three months supplementation with Pine bark increased hyaluronic acid by 44% in skin and significantly boosted elasticity and hydration.

Pine bark also helps to regenerate vitamins C and E in the skin to help fight free radical damage.

Applied topically, Pine bark has been studied for helping with discoloration and wrinkle prevention.  In a 2011 study, a mixture of vitamin C, vitamin E, evening primrose oil, and Pine bark was applied to the skin. This study found that this antioxidant mixture reduced UV light induced wrinkles and skin hyperpigmentaton.  Scientists feel hopeful that this combination may similarly benefit human skin.

After doing your own research about freckles , I suggest you to check this.
